SAFE OFF ROAD AND HEAVY VEHICLES(9078)
This Safe Off-Road & Heavy Vehicle Driving Course provides drivers with knowledge and practical experience to obtain understanding and practical skills necessary to drive safely in off-road and desert environments. Participants will receive information on local road laws, hazards in the desert, vehicle intrinsic safety systems, and journey planning. This will ensure that drivers understand what a risk assessment looks like and how to implement excellent safety strategies. The course covers the practical aspect of training the participants to employ safe driving behaviours and practices in graded roads, rough terrain, and across sand dunes, providing long term benefits in developing safe driving techniques, confidence, and confidence when driving in rough terrain and sandy environments. This training is beneficial if you are a driver of light or heavy vehicles, including plant operators, company drivers, and local hire company drivers who are required to drive vehicles in these poor conditions.
COURSE OUTLINE - MODULES
- This module is focused on reviewing, assessing and developing drivers’ practical driving abilities. Drivers were required to demonstrate their ability to use safe driving techniques, conduct vehicle operations over various terrains, and demonstrate situational responses to realistic driving processes so that the driver was competent and able to drive safely in operational environments.
- Drivers will learn correct loading and unloading techniques, manage and secure cargo, understand passenger safety and comfort, determined by the policies, procedures and regulations with the associated risks, think ahead and maintain compliance on mobile operations.
- This module is adapted to prepare the driver for challenging terrains. This module include a body of knowledge and skills entailing operating vehicles over off-road tracks and care required drive vehicles over desert land highs and lows. The driver will be learnt and developed space awareness of hazards, method for controlling vehicles across terrains and develop methods for planning journeys to participant in safe driving practices.
- It dives into essential topics like managing fatigue, ensuring both physical and mental fitness, conducting pre-journey risk assessments, and planning routes to encourage safe, efficient, and compliant driving habits.
- Participants will learn about the unique risks associated with different terrains, the safety features of their vehicles, and the best practices that will set them up for more advanced off-road driving training.
