AUTHORIZED GAS TESTER(9240)
The Authorized Gas Tester course aims to equip students with the skills and certification to perform atmospheric testing in an occupational setting. Trainees will perform testing for oxygen, flammable and toxic gases, particularly in confined spaces, permit-required spaces and hot work processes. The course is delivered according OPITO standards so that students can obtain knowledge, and practical experience in gas detection, monitoring and work safety compliance to prepare them for the critical job of working safely in hazardous environments.
COURSE OUTLINE - MODULES
- Addresses the knowledge and practical skills necessary to perform safe gas testing.
Participants identify hazards, select and operate gas-detection devices, interpret readings, and implement control measures following industry standards.
- Covers the action of testing for the presence of flammable gases before performing hot work activities
The module provides training on correct sampling techniques, permit-to-work, safety precautions, and responding to abnormal readings.
- An essential training module that covers assessing and sampling atmospheric conditions in a confined space.
This course allows participants to assess oxygen levels, toxic and combustible gases, and ensure a safe work environment before and during the work activity.
- Covers continuing gas monitoring methods through work activities.
This module highlights the correct use of equipment, how to interpret data, completing a report, and actions when an unsafe condition is detected.
